Stress Management Techniques For Teenagers
Stress Management Techniques For Teenagers
Teenagers are among the most stressed out individuals in the world. The reason for this is that teenagers are still on the verge of finding out who they are and what they want from life. Stress is a major problem for most teenagers and stress management techniques for persons of this age bracket are not uncommon. Although stress management techniques for teens and adults are not so different, the degree of the technique may differ.
Defining The Factors Of Stress
Before any effective stress management techniques can be used, the factors that contribute to a person’s stress needs to be defined and sorted out. For most teenagers, peer pressure and fitting in are among the most common reasons for stress and anxiety. Peer pressure can come in many forms and teen agers are not the only ones who are affected by this phenomenon. Many adults suffer from peer pressure without them being aware of what it is because the degrees of peer pressure can be different and not so clear that even those who are applying the pressure may not be aware that they are doing it. Fitting in is another very common source of stress for a teenager. Not everybody can fit in with a certain group of people and this can be stressful and a source of anxiety for them. Stress management techniques for both sources of stress are similar to other techniques for other factors of stress.
Managing Stress
Stress management techniques usually start with something that calms a person down or relaxes the person. Stress and anxiety are often eased by just changing one’s frame of mind. This stress management technique is quite effective for almost everybody which is why it is important to be aware of factors that contribute to a person’s relaxed mood. Stress management relaxation techniques are often related to breathing techniques that calm and relax an individual as well as managing one’s state of mind.
Other ways manage and control stress is to have a back up plan ready in case of an anxiety attack. This is a great stress management technique that can work well if one has mastered it. It may be a bit cliché like thinking of a happy place but it works when one knows how to do it. The back up plan is usually to have a short break from what causes the stress or to have a relaxing massage after being exposed to the factors that causes stress.
